{"id":376013,"date":"2026-05-27T16:30:46","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T20:30:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greenvillejournal.com\/?p=376013"},"modified":"2026-05-27T14:17:57","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T18:17:57","slug":"simpsonville-advances-traffic-study-proposed-solutions-regarding-several-downtown-neighborhoods-city-council-notes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greenvillejournal.com\/government\/simpsonville-advances-traffic-study-proposed-solutions-regarding-several-downtown-neighborhoods-city-council-notes\/","title":{"rendered":"Simpsonville advances traffic study for downtown neighborhoods: City Council notes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a recap of the <a href=\"https:\/\/greenvillejournal.com\/tag\/simpsonville\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Simpsonville City Council meeting<\/a> on May 26.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"advanced-traffic-calming-study\">Advanced: Traffic calming study<\/h2>\n<p>Council advanced a traffic calming study conducted by Impact Designs Inc., which examined the League Estates and Poinsettia subdivisions as well as Jones Avenue and Hedge Street.<\/p>\n<p>The study\u2019s recommendations included:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"pk-list-styled\">\n<li>Adding a diagonal diverter at South Pliney Circle and Hunter Street, and two speed humps on North Pliney Circle in League Estates.<\/li>\n<li>Installing two speed humps on Jones Avenue between Southern Oaks Lane and North Maple Street.<\/li>\n<li>Creating a northbound half closure at Moore Street and a southbound half closure at Crisp Street on Hedge Street.<\/li>\n<li>Constructing a partial median closure at Poinsettia and Fernwood drives, and a forced turn island in the southbound lane of Poinsettia Drive at Coralvine Road.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This study was proposed after council voted in February to reopen Hunter Street, which was closed in November 2022. This item will go before the City Council for approval on June 9.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"advanced-amendment-to-fiber-franchise-agreement-ordinance\">Advanced: Amendment to fiber franchise agreement ordinance<\/h2>\n<p>Council advanced an amendment to the city\u2019s fiber franchise agreement ordinance. If approved, all new agreements would be subject to the City Council\u2019s approval or denial.<\/p>\n<p>This item will go before the City Council for initial approval on June 9.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"other-items\">Other items<\/h2>\n<p>During his report to council, City Administrator Tee Coker provided several project updates, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"pk-list-styled\">\n<li>An arborist removed seven trees near the playground in Gracely Park.
