Here is a recap of the Feb. 24 meeting of the Greenville County Schools board of trustees.
Approved: Artificial intelligence policy addition
The board approved a new policy regarding artificial intelligence and educational technology in schools. The policy addition received initial approval during the board’s committee of the whole meeting on Feb. 10.
The policy revision states that AI has the potential to offer “valuable educational opportunities” for students and teachers. It outlines that AI should be used in an ethical manner that emphasizes student privacy and security. The policy also requires that the use of AI be transparent to parents and guardians.
