Here’s a recap of Greer City Council’s March 24 meeting:
Approved: $288K federal housing allocation
Council unanimously approved a resolution allocating $288,057 in federal Community Development Block Grant and other funding for low- to moderate-income housing programs for the 2026 program year.
The funding is administered by the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority and covers an array of programs to assist low- and moderate-income families with housing within the city.
About $154,000 of the total will be allocated to implementing a neighborhood plan and $10,000 will go toward home repair. The allocation also directs $60,000 to area public service organizations, including $18,500 to Greer Community Ministries and $24,750 to Greer Relief.
Approved: Rezoning of 3 parcels on Pleasant Drive
Council approved final reading of an ordinance rezoning three parcels on Pleasant Drive totaling 26.8 acres from suburban neighborhood to traditional neighborhood.
The parcels are located on Pleasant Drive at the intersection with South Buncombe Road. Plans for the properties involve subdividing to accommodate a single-family detached subdivision being proposed by TMC Development involving 72 lots.
