Greenville is developing its first Urban Forest Comprehensive Plan. The plan will provide a 20-year outlook with goals, recommendations and guidelines for enhancing the city’s urban tree canopy.
The city launched the one-year master planning process in February in collaboration with Cincinnati-based Urban Canopy Works.
Residents are invited to attend a virtual question-and-answer session about the comprehensive plan on April 29. The meeting will run from 6 to 7 p.m. Consultants from Urban Canopy Works will provide updates, answer questions and gather feedback from attendees.
The Urban Forest Comprehensive Plan is currently in the discovery phase, which will consist of collecting feedback from stakeholders and community members. Public input, along with data analysis of Greenville’s tree canopy, will be used to create the planning document.
Stakeholder workshops and an in-person public meeting will also be held during the project’s discovery phase, which will last until July. In addition, city staff will be available to meet with neighborhoods and community groups to discuss the comprehensive plan.
An online survey is currently available for community members to provide feedback on the city’s tree canopy for the Urban Forest Comprehensive Plan.
