The Community Foundation of Greenville announced June 8 it received an anonymous $7,500 grant for the Hispanic Alliance and it’s “Wings of the City” exhibit.
The charity is also providing a matching grant of $7,500.
“A local couple is giving $7,500 through the Community Foundation of Greenville to support the marketing of the ‘Wings of the City ‘exhibit,” said Community Foundation president Bob Morris. “While they are choosing to remain anonymous, they would like to affirm the decision to bring these world-class sculptures for public display in Falls Park. They see ‘Wings of the City’ as a celebration of diversity and a way to enjoy the beauty of sculpture and our downtown. Their expression of appreciation for the mission will hopefully encourage others to step forward to support the Hispanic Alliance above and beyond the amount needed so it can continue its 15-year legacy of serving local Hispanic families.”
The donation comes after the Greenville County Council on June 1 voted 8-4 to deny the Hispanic Alliance a $7,500 grant to promote the exhibit.
Since losing the County’s funding, the nonprofit has also received a $3,500 donation from the Metropolitan Arts Council.
