Mission Statement
Our mission is to increase the literacy and employability of adult learners. The Greenville Literacy Association does this by offering high-quality instruction for adults (ages 17 and up) in basic skills, GED preparation, English as a second language, digital literacy and career readiness. As a recipient of federal funds through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, GLA works closely with local workforce-development agencies to ensure that its students and graduates make seamless transitions to job training, post-secondary education and employment in growing industries like health care, advanced manufacturing, construction, transportation, logistics and IT. Together, we are working to build a pipeline from education to living-wage employment for our county’s 67,000 undereducated adults.
Impact
For 60 years, Greenville Literacy Association has empowered thousands through literacy, GED programs and workforce training. By adapting to changing needs, it has strengthened communities, boosted employment and created lasting generational impact. Through volunteers and partnerships, GLA continues to prove that literacy is key to opportunity, growth and economic mobility.
