Residents of Verdae officially have a direct connection to the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail Green Line extension.
The $3.5 million trail connector in Legacy Park recently opened to the public after construction was completed in January. Developed by Verdae Development Inc., the approximately 1,660-foot trail spur includes an 80-foot bridge spanning across Laurel Creek.
An opening ceremony for the new trail connection was held Feb. 8.
“After much fanfare and anticipation, we’re here today to officially connect this wonderful park, this portion of Greenville with elsewhere, upstream Greenville and really mark an important milestone in the evolution of the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail,” said Greenville City Councilman Wil Brasington.
Greenville Mayor Knox White said the trail connector was completed through a public and private partnership with Verdae Development Inc. In January, City Council approved the city to assume ownership and maintenance of the trail from the developer.
“What a great day for Hollingsworth neighbors,” White said.
