A new affordable housing community recently opened in a refurbished textile mill in West Greenville.
Gordon Street Lofts features 116 units for households earning 60% of the area’s median income. The approximately 160,000-square-foot building includes one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans. Residents will have access to amenities such as a business center, fitness center, dog washing station and more.
The apartment community is located at 112 N. Georgia Ave. near the intersection of Easley Bridge Road and South Washington Avenue. A grand opening for Gordon Street Lofts was held Aug. 26.
M Peters Group, GreenbergFarrow and JDavis Construction partnered to develop the new affordable housing project. Greenville-based NHE will serve as the property manager.
“Gordon Street Lofts offers an unbeatable location in the vibrant, creative heart of West Greenville, one of the area’s most sought-after neighborhoods,” said Mark Peters, president of the M Peters Group. “Our goal for Gordon Street Lofts has been to take the old and make new again to serve the community.”

Greenville County Council approved a special source credit agreement for the project in August 2023. Gordon Street Lofts was also placed in a multicounty industrial and business park by council to qualify for the incentives.
The special source credit agreement allowed the development team to offset the project’s infrastructure investments against payments in lieu of taxes owed to the county. The developers were required to invest a minimum of $7.5 million within the first five years of the agreement.
“It’s a win every time we can create affordable housing opportunities in Greenville,” said Greenville County Councilman Alan Mitchell.
