Mission statement
The Junior League of Greenville Inc. is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration and training.
Impact
The Junior League of Greenville Inc. was founded in 1929 by a group of 20 women with a passion for serving the Greenville community. Today, we are a vibrant group of over 1,100 women who are still passionate about volunteering and helping to make our community an even better place.
The JLG has been an integral part in contributing to the founding of several significant community organizations including the Peace Center for the Performing Arts, Pendleton Place for Children and Families, The Children’s Museum of the Upstate, and the Warehouse Theatre.
Additionally, the JLG has supported more than 300 different agencies, awarded nearly $3 million dollars in grants, and provided countless hours of volunteer service during its 93-year history.
The current community-impact strategy can be summarized by our focus statement: The Junior League of Greenville Inc. engages in initiatives that help women in our community overcome barriers, focusing on human trafficking and economic mobility.

Fundraisers and events
- Holiday Bag Project: Each December, JLG sustainers lead a special project to bring holiday cheer and encouragement to cancer patients in the Greenville community. Sustainers gather at the beginning of December to assemble and deliver the bags to our partner, Neighborhood Cancer Connection. The bags contain fun items and practical items for the cancer patients. Bags are provided for adults, teens and children. Thanks to the donations and time of sustainers and other league members, JLG has raised over $180,000 and provides approximately 350 gift bags each year.
- Sponsorship: We invite you to become a sponsor of the Junior League of Greenville to promote your brand to our membership of leading women and show your commitment to the Greenville community. We believe in the power of collective action and know that, through partnerships with community stakeholders, we are stronger together.
