Each year, the Residence Inn/SpringHill Suites in downtown Greenville holds its annual Holiday Gingerbread Exhibit inviting amateur and professional bakers to enter. That time has come again and the application to enter is live.
The structures will be on display from Dec. 2-25 at the hotel located at 200 E. Washington St. Winners will be announced Dec. 26. There are four prizes:
- One media’s choice winner: $250. Will be judged based on precision, difficulty, creativity and appearance.
- Grand prize for one professional and one amateur: $350.
- Second place prize: An overnight stay at the hotel complete with dinner from the hotel’s restaurant, Oak & Honey.
- Junior Award (Bakers ages 10-17): $150.
Here are the rules:
- Applications must be submitted by Oct. 31. Acceptances will be announced Nov. 7
- Must be holiday- or Greenville-themed.
- Entries must be edible (except lights) and are not limited to houses or building.
- Structural frames must be made of 75% gingerbread or more.
- Dimensions can’t exceed two feet in width, height or length
- Entries can be made in two person teams with one person delegated as a primary point of contact.
