Camino Wine Merchant in Greenville’s Overbrook neighborhood opened a specialty tea and coffee shop, Camino Cafe, in its storefront.
The shop draws inspiration from Europe and honors the journey tea takes. Owner Liz Dowty Mitchell said she has long appreciated the nuances and acquisition of tea, likening it to wine.
“It’s a very cerebral beverage,” she said. “I think a lot of people in the wine community are kind of nerdy about tea. Coffee, of course, goes along with it.”
The cafe will spotlight a coffee roaster on a rotating basis, beginning with Coffee Collective in Copenhagen, Denmark. The tea is sourced in collaboration with The Cultured Cup, a Texas-based tea and coffee retailer Mitchell encountered at a sommelier conference.
The menu primarily spotlights tea service and matcha, as well as lesser-known options like Moroccan tea service.
On the matcha side, one unique item is the azuki latte made with red bean azuki milk. Azuki is a sweeter bean often used for desserts and treats like mochi or stuffing for dorayaki. The inclusion of azuki pays homage to matcha’s heritage which began in China, where the bean is a staple.
Mitchell said the team made the milk from beans purchased at Asia Pacific Supermarket and that the latte takes on a subtle nutty and vanilla flavor.
While we were there, we tried the julekaffe pourover with azuki bean milk and sfogliatella. The airy pastry is filled with ricotta that takes on a bright flavor in the dough. The versatile cheese nearly seems to take on a zesty flavor here.
Camino Cafe is located at 1622 E. North St. and operates from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

It’s important to spotlight good deeds in the community.
Over the holidays, Upstate butchery AM-PM Farms Butchery & Market donated 1,200 pounds of meat to local charities. The first donation totaled 600 pounds to Daily Bread Ministries in Greer on Dec. 31, 2025. The second was given on Jan. 6 at the market’s recently reopened Fountain Inn location benefitting The Lord’s Table Feeds, a soup kitchen in Fountain Inn.
The market will store the meat for the soup kitchen, which is just down the road.
Both donations comprised beef, beef ribs and pork, among other meats.
AM-PM Farms Butchery & Market has three locations: Its flagship in Fountain Inn at 202 S. Weston St., and at 1907 Laurens Road in Greenville and 164 S. Main St. in Travelers Rest.
