Thousands of people will visit downtown Greenville this weekend for the city’s premier arts festival, Artisphere.
The 22nd annual festival will take place from May 8-10. More than 600 visual, performing and culinary artists from Greenville and beyond will be featured at this year’s festival.
Artisphere Board Chair Michelle Seaver said visitors will encounter a vibrant mix of art, performance and interactive experiences across the festival footprint, creating opportunities to engage with creativity in all its forms.
“With hundreds of artists and dozens of ways to participate, Artisphere remains a signature moment for Greenville; a weekend where creativity fills the streets and the community comes together to celebrate the arts,” Seaver said.
Artisphere’s signature Artist Row along Main Street will feature 140 artists working in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, drawing, fiber, glasswork, woodwork, metalwork, painting, photography, printmaking and more. Forty-seven artists will be exhibiting in Greenville for the first time.
Prisma Health, the festival’s presenting sponsor, invites attendees to contribute to the “Hope Forward” Community Mural. The mural will be led by William Downs, an Atlanta-based contemporary artist and graduate of the Fine Arts Center in Greenville.
Live demonstrations and hands-on instruction will be provided at the Grand Bohemian “Art in the Open” program throughout the festival. Artists from the Greenville Center for Creative Arts will lead the program, providing attendees with behind-the-scenes insight into their creative process.
The three-day festival will also feature a variety of live performances across seven stages set up in downtown Greenville. Food and drink options will be available at Artisphere’s Culinary Arts Café, served by Califas, Common Pops, Honest Scoop, Latin Flavorz, Local Pie, Methodical Coffee, Persis, Social Latitude, Society and White Wine & Butter.
